Glitch motion design (2018-2019)

Demoreel glitch title

For my 3D Demoreel video, I made an intro & outro sequence using glitches. I really enjoy this kind of effects, specially when the sound is synchronized.

To achieve this effect, I used several methods using After Effects. In short, I added a glitched sequence (recorded from a VHS for example) on the composition, and then I used it’s luminance to deform the texts or pictures above the glitch layer. In addition to that, I made an effect that fake chromatic aberration on the edges of shapes and a bit of blur to the comp.

I decided to use this effect as well on my artist facebook page. I also added some lines travelling in the sequence, like power wires connection. For this banner, I used my 2D animated character, too, again in After Effects.
